We scientists, hippies, pagans, builders, artists, musicians, and everyone else gather on the last day of winter, first day of spring. Here, day and night are the same length before the earth’s axis shifts to give us more sun until next winter. We challenge the cold. We share the warmth. We enjoy the art. We embrace the silliness. What do you want to create, share, or be?

In short, it’s a four day party where nothing is sold or traded and every worker is a volunteer. Here in the forest around other silly, welcoming humans you can decide to see art, play music, engage in human connection and conversation, or whatever might make you happy.

There’s music, but we’re not a festival. Come experience the relief of a getaway where there is no selling, trading, or bartering. You can decide if you accept gifts you’re freely offered, or if you politely decline. There are no centrally planned events, other than a large fire called the Effigy Burn. These gatherings are about connecting, gifting what we choose, and escaping the default, or “real”, world for a while.

We are inclusive: all colors, all creeds, all genders, all diets, EVERYONE! Generally, if you don’t hate, mean no harm, and treat others with respect, you’re welcome to gather with us. We follow a few sane guidelines called “Principles.” We hold consent in the highest regard. Get consent before you touch someone. Please review these principles as they are key in understanding our culture.  Include people, express yourself, take care of yourself, try to take care of the community, don’t litter, participate, and embrace the things happening now.

You are responsible for your safety and welfare. The only amenities at this event are portable toilets. This is a cold weather, real world event. It might rain, it might snow. Bring food, water, and everything you need to sleep safely for a few nights in 20 degree temperatures. The days are usually bright and clear and 60 degrees.
